Are you struggling with dry skin? Or are you perhaps looking for a way to hydrate your skin after your acne treatment? Then look no further.
In this CeraVe Moisturizing Cream review, you and I will take an in-depth look at what I personally believe is one of the best (re-)hydrating products currently out for sale. My hopes are that I can help you find a quality moisturizer to add to your daily cleansing routine.
And while I do believe that this is an excellent product, there are a some concerns I feel that addressing first… but we’ll get to that. Just keep this in mind as you’re reading.
So if you’re ready; let’s get to it!
What is CeraVe Moisturizing Cream?
The CeraVe cream provides hydration for your skin every single hour throughout the day. It supplies vital ceramides (1, 3 and 6-II) that your skin needs in order to repair its protective barrier.
The cream is non-comedogenic, which means that it will not clog your pores or cause acne outbreaks. It’s pretty much what you generally should expect from a moisturizer when you’re battling acne.
CeraVe moisturizing cream is completely fragrance-free and unscented (yes, there’s a difference). This makes it a very viable option for people with allergies and an over-sensitive sense of smell.
Furthermore, the moisturizing cream contains hyaluronic acid that, in fact, can already be found in the human body – mainly in the joints and eye fluids. Hyaluronic acid helps maintain the moisture of your skin.
The formula is very gentle and doesn’t irritate your skin. Undoubtedly, this makes it an optimal cream for users with sensitive skin.
Initially, the CeraVe cream didn’t come with a protection seal, which made it hard to determine whether the product was brand-new and untouched.
However, the manufacturer listened to the feedback from their customers and have recently started shipping the cream with protection seal included.
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream Review – Helps, When Others Can’t
I get it. Your face is crying out for help after your acne treatment. Perhaps you’ve already tried several moisturizers, but none of them have seemed to work.
Don’t worry. CeraVe moisturizing cream comes to the rescue!
You know how your typical moisturizer tends to just make your skin look greasy after you’ve applied it? Well, that’s now a thing of the past. Your skin will look great after application!
At the same time, it’s not one of those kind of creams that you have to rub onto your skin over and over, trying to keep it from drying out. So you’ll save a bit of money by using less of the product compared to moisturizers of competing brands.
As it’s both non-comedogenic and oil-free, the CeraVe moisturizing cream can be used for all kinds of skin types, even combination and oily skin. Which is a huge plus in my book.
Besides, one can only assume that this product’s got to be quite effective, when both dermatologists and a majority of customers recommend it wholeheartedly.
In fact, based on a ProVoice data report, CeraVe is the #1 recommended-by-dermatologists moisturizer brand. Not to mention, the cream is actually developed and manufactured closely with dermatologists.
Also, I’ve happened to notice that there’s a CeraVe lotion available for sale too. It’s supposed to be used in combination with the cream, but in my opinion you can skip the lotion completely. The CeraVe cream already creates a protective barrier for your skin, and this renders the lotion a bit useless (or at least redundant).
One thing that concerns me quite a lot is that CeraVe insist on using parabens as preservatives in their products. Parabens have been linked to several health conditions; the main one being breast cancer.
On the other hand, the FDA claim that there is no information pointing towards parabens being a dangerous component in cosmetics. And one thing is for sure, parabens are one of the most effective – if not THE most effective – preservatives for cosmetic products. They keep those nasty germs away.
Simply put, if you decide to use products with parabens, at least make sure you’re aware of the risks first.
How Does it Work?
As I mentioned previously, the CeraVe moisturizer keeps the skin hydrated through all hours of the day. And this is mainly thanks to CeraVe’s patented Multivesicular Emulsion (MVE) technology.
You see, in our skin there are three types of lipids: ceramides, fatty acid esters and cholesterol. Combined, these form the so called lipid bilayer. Separately, each lipid is able to both repel and absorb water, and when they’re collaborating they vary between taking in and keeping out moisture in the skin.
The MVE technology makes sure to inject these lipids into your skin over a longer period. This helps our skin with 5 essential activities:
- Staying hydrated.
- Maintaining nourishment.
- Repairing, restoring and maintaining its natural barrier.
Ultimately, the CeraVe moisturizing cream provides a long-lasting protection for your skin’s natural barrier.
- Non-comedogenic and oil-free. Doesn’t clog your pores and suits all skin types; even combination and oily skin.
- Good-looking skin. Keeps your skin from looking greasy after use, and doesn’t require multiple applications throughout the day.
- Long-lasting protection. Maintains the protection of your skin barrier and ensures that your skin stays hydrated all day.
- Manufactured with and recommended by dermatologists. The #1 recommended moisturizing product, which is manufactured with dermatologists for an excellent result.
- Parabens. I felt that with the controversy revolving around health concerns related to parabens, I should draw attention to the subject. Just to point out that there can be risks involved in using products containing parabens. Use with caution.
Is There Anything Better Than CeraVe Moisturizing Cream?
Currently, there’s no better product that I can think of.
Understandably, the parabens are a problem because we can’t know for certain whether they pose a threat for our health. But the truth is that a large portion of cosmetic products contain them. They’re necessary to keep the germs away from our skin.
The CeraVe moisturizing cream offers you a long-lasting hydration and protection of your skin. And this is in a way that other brands can’t even begin to dream of competing with. Non-greasy look with a great end result, while removing the need for a lotion.
For the time being, I believe this moisturizer conquers all.
If you’re having problems finding a moisturizer that truly works, then definitely test this one out. There are many good brands out there, but the CeraVe cream seems to get the job done where others can’t.
Apart from keeping your skin hydrated, it also gives you a long-lasting skin barrier protection without making your skin look greasy. Plus, you don’t have to re-apply the cream every few hours throughout the day. Just rub it onto your skin in the morning, and then focus on making the best out of your day!
Finally, the cream is oil-free and non-comedogenic, which is a huge bonus. Not only does it suit all skin types, but it also does a good job of not clogging your pores and causing breakouts.
As long as you’re aware of the potential risks, I can absolutely recommend this moisturizer cream. If you’re having problems with dry skin and can’t seem to find a moisturizer that works – just take this puppy out for a spin, already!
